About

The Park Ridge Farmers Market is committed to bringing local farmers and artisans to our community who offer a variety of fresh herbs, flowers, specialty foods, baked goods, seasonal fruits and vegetables, and more. We also offer free live music and kids activities every week. Our vendors hail from Illinois, Michigan, Wisconsin and Indiana.

The market is open every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend through the last Saturday of October, 7:00 am – 1:00 pm  We are located at 15 Prairie Ave. in Park Ridge (at the intersection of Prairie Ave. and Main St.)

Our HistoryThe Park Ridge Farmer’s Market was conceived in 1989 as part of former Park Ridge Mayor Marty Butler’s “Vision 2000” Committee. A group of citizen-volunteers was established to bring the idea to life, including Owen Hayes, Bea Painter, Dave Donovan and Frank Huster as organizers, Robert Ryan as the first committee Chairman, and Carol Zeugel Longman as the first Market Master.

The committee spent the next year working to get the market off the ground. This included research, visiting other farmers markets, drafting an ordinance, and working with local officials. The University of Illinois Agricultural Extension Service also provided information and assistance. Farmers and vendors were contacted. As they applied, a committee member would visit each business to ensure that the farmers really did grow the produce or prepare the products.
