Forestry

The Forestry Division manages and maintains over 21,000 parkway and city-owned trees. The City contracts with private tree care companies to provide various forestry services such as tree and stump removal, pest and disease management, cyclical pruning of over 2,500 trees annually,  and storm response.

Forestry staff responds to citizens’ requests involving various insect and disease problems affecting public trees. To request an inspection of a parkway tree, please submit a request using the online Citizen Request Form.

For information about private property tree removals and permits, tree planting, brush pick-up, and parkway tree maintenance, please visit  Frequently Asked Questions.

Please note: If you would like to remove a tree on your property, all private property trees over 10" in diameter (measured 4.5' from the ground) are Protected Trees and require a tree removal permit.

Tree removal permit applications can now be submitted using the CSS Citizen Self Service Online Portal. Once the completed Tree Removal Permit Application Form is uploaded to the portal and submitted, you will be able to review the status of the permit application in real-time.
