Revitalization of the Community Health Commission results in a search for new members

The Community Health Commission is looking to fill 2 expired seats, 2 expiring seats, and 3 vacant seats.  One of the vacant positions available includes a substance abuse professional or counselor.  Members serve for a 2-year term.  Meetings are held at City Hall on the fourth Thursday of every month.

The Commission, which consists of 11 members, currently has a mission to expand overall communication to the community by educating parents and children about drug and alcohol misuse in order to promote a drug-free community.  The Commission intends to expand its mission to include educating residents on all health related matters and environmental issues.

Interested residents are encouraged to complete an application.  Simply visit the City’s website at, choose the “Our Government” tab, select Boards, Commissions, and Committees (left column) and access the Boards and Commissions Application Form on the right side of the webpage.  A hard-copy is also available in the lobby at City Hall.

To be considered, your application, and resume, if available, should be returned by November 13 to Deputy Clerk Peterson at or by fax, 847/318-5300.  She will contact you to set up a brief interview on November 23 with the Mayor’s Advisory Board.  The Mayor’s Advisory Board, consisting of Chairman Daniel Knight, Ald. Marc Mazzuca, Ald. Nicholas Milissis, and Ald. Roger Shubert makes recommendations to Acting Mayor Maloney for appointments.
