Street Resurfacing Project Underway

July 16, 2019 03:03 PM

The City’s annual Street Resurfacing Project is underway.  This year’s project includes the rehabilitation of approximately 4 miles of roadway.  Improvements include the removal and replacement of the existing pavement, and some curb replacement to improve drainage.

A map of the streets scheduled for resurfacing can be found at:

The project duration is approximately 2 months.  It will begin with removal and replacement of curb and other concrete.  Then the streets will be milled and drainage structures will be adjusted.  The final step is placement of the new asphalt.  Each activity is completed on all streets before the next activity begins.  As a result, there are typically long periods of inactivity on each block because the contractor has moved to another location.

The general sequence of the work is starting at the northwest end of the City, and proceeding south and in a counter-clockwise direction.
