Winter Weather Information

January 29, 2019 03:00 PM

The extreme cold weather has begun and will continue for the next three days. We urge all residents to remain safe and warm in their homes and only travel outside if it is absolutely necessary. Limit the number of times you open your external doors to keep as much heat in your home as you can. If you must travel outside, make sure to wear multiple layers of clothing and cover all exposed skin since frostbite can occur within minutes. If you are traveling in your personal vehicle, make sure to have extra clothing and multiple blankets in an easily accessible location and know that these extreme low temperatures can sometimes cause vehicle problems.

If you are in need of a warming location, the Park Ridge Public Library will be open from 10:00 AM- 5:00 PM on Wednesday January 30th.  The lobby of the Park Ridge Police Department will be open 24 hours on Wednesday and Thursday as well. The Park Ridge Fire Department and Police Department are fully staffed over the course of this record setting weather pattern and are able to respond to any emergency 24 hours a day. If you have any emergency during this cold weather, please call 911 and the appropriate first responders will arrive to your door within minutes.

Again, please only venture outside if it is absolutely necessary. We want all of our residents to remain safe and warm during this bout of record setting cold. .
