Are you prepared for winter weather?

Are you prepared for the change?   Light snow showers are possible starting Friday night and extending through Saturday and Sunday, with highs around 40.  The possible snow comes at the tail end of Winter Weather Preparedness Week at the National Weather Service (NWS).  Check out the NWS’s advice and preparedness recommendations from FEMA. The City is compiling a list of volunteers consisting of Youth Commission volunteers and other individuals and youth organizations who wish to give back to the community and offer snow shoveling services.  Interested in volunteering?  Please contact Administrative Specialist Brigid Madden at 847/318-6721 who serves as the staff liaison to the Youth Commission and provide her with your name, phone number, address, and Ward in which you reside.   Residents from your Ward will be given your information and contact you directly to make arrangements.   


For residents who are requesting snow shoveling assistance due to a medical condition, please contact Deputy Clerk Peterson at 847/318-5464 and provide her with your name, phone number and address.   You will be sent a list of names of volunteers in your Ward that you can contact and arrange for services. 


Service arrangements are made directly between homeowner and the volunteer.  Residential snow shoveling is not a service provided by the City.
